This of course is Spence’s favorite verse and it touches on a subject that Mike writes on now and then in his blog…sharing our lives with others.  I had to blog about this because i have experienced this in a new way and just need to share about it.

I have spent the past 2 days with the other new leaders in the program in an amazing “bay” house at the eastern shore in MD.  Tough way to start a new job right?  The purpose of the few days was team building and to help us all get to know each other before we starting into our respective ministry areas.  So what did we do?  Well aside from an extreme scavenger hunt in Annapolis (home of the US Naval Academy) that made me feel like i was in the movie National Treasure, the rest of the time was spent sharing testimonies and hanging out and getting to know each other and it went very well!  I can honestly say that I have 10 new friends already that i can relate to and appreciate.  (no where did i say that any of you have been replaced because that will never happen!)

So what does this have to do with the verse?  Well something we did which took most of our time there was to share our life stories, or “Journey of Faith” as they called it. Every one was asked to take as much time as needed to tell the rest of the group about themselves so that when we were done, we would “know” each other, at least so some extent.  It did take a long time, but in the end it was an incredible experience.  Everyone has a unique and interesting story and when you take the time to listen to that story…well, it’s just neat way to really get to know someone or at least appreciate where they’re coming from.  It seems obvious, but you don’t really understand that until it happens.  Anyway, i took a lot from these few days and can’t wait to serve with these incredible individuals.  Think about asking someone to share their story with you sometime soon…I bet you’ll grow closer and really enjoy it!
